Flipboard Coming Soon For Android?

Samsung’s Galaxy S3 seems not to be the only launch today on a rather eventful Thursday. The most popular reader, ie Flipboard might soon be readily available for Android devices. Flipboard is a famous RSS reader in a totally magazine like unique way for iOS devices. Over couple of months we have totally loved spending our time reading feed of our favorite sites on Flipboard, and it seems like the experience is just about to get broader. The Galaxy S3 is launched with a unique and exclusive version of Flipboard which we are fairly sure would be on the Market very soon. Remmeber that Google has also launched its own RSS feed reader called Google Currents which not to mention did not do too well in the market. The Android version would also enable the users to add a Flipboard widget on their desktop unlike the iOS version. Here is an exclusive shot of Flipboard working on a GS3.

Lock Your Folders On iPhone With Folderlock

It’s definitely very true that people want privacy in whatever they do and so it is very obvious that people using the iphone would love to lock up their secrets in some application or in this case a folder. There are several ways for you to password-protect applications on your iDevice, but what if you just want to password-protect your iDevice’s Folder? FolderLock, an iPhone tweak available for $1.59 in the Cydia Store will let you do just this but it will be free in the other repo’s.
Not only does this tweak help in locking your Folders but, FolderLock also allows you to lock your iPhone’s Spotlight search feature, and your multi-tasking applications drawer which opens on double clicking the home button. If you’re looking for a fully firewalled password protected system for your iDevice, i would probably recommend staying away from FolderLock for now, and to download something like Locktopus. There is no icon added to your SpringBoard with this tweak, and FolderLock settings can be configured in your main Settings.app. To install this tweak you need to follow the steps given below: Open Cydia on your jailbroken iphone. Let the data load. Once the data is loaded go to search and type in “FolderLock”. It’s free in the IHR, insanelyi and sinfuliphone repo. Select it Install it. Respring or reboot your device. You are done to use it. If you know any other tweaks similar to this one or any other tweak which you might think would be useful to iphone users please let us know.

Ice Cream Sandwich And Gingerbread Popularity Rising

One of the biggest issues we have with Android is the lack of same version of Android running on all the devices. For example, there are plenty of phones out there who are still running an Ancient version of Froyo on them. However, with Ice Cream Sandwich Android has definitely tried to get a measure of this problem so that most of the phones run the same version. However, the biggest problem has been the fact that not all the devices have been able to get the updates and recently there was a massive debate on the fact that a five month waiting period for a firmware update is quite long. However, the studies show that the two most latest versions of Android i.e. Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich are finally being adapted by most people on their devices, infact Ice Cream Sandwich is now running on about 5% Android smartphones which is a really positive news. We only hope that in future all the devices can get updated to these latest versions, especially ICS because its truly beautiful and worth the wait. Here is the exact data for all those interested in the percentages:

The Perfect Phone

Very often we sit back and discuss which device is the best and which phone is the single best device out there, and usually we end up just fighting or quiting out, cause very simply a perfect phone does not exist. Usually there are features we may like, but to think of an overall package, its very hard to single out one device that can do everything. So what would the most perfect device have on the planet seeing the technology that is already out there? Here is my pick, feature wise for the most perfect phone.
A 4.5 Inch Display: It is a rather debatable topic as to what is the perfect screen size for a mobile device. Few would argue that the 3.5 inch on an iPhone is too small while 5+ inch display on a galaxy note is too big, so what exactly is the ideal size? In my opinion about 4.5/4.6 inches is pretty much the perfect mobile device screen size. It enables us to read text crystal clear and browse web and yet not have issues navigating the device with just one hand. A 4.5 inch screen is pretty much ideal for all the multimedia playbacks too. LTE Connectivity: Smart Phones are all about data usage on the go, and nothing, absolutely nothing beats a good LTE or a 4G coverage where the downloads are blazing fast and you do not even have to wait for a split second for your favorite youtube videos to load. A Quad Core Processor: Its not any secret that more powerful your device processor is, the better Graphics experience you would get. A quad core processor also makes sure there is totally no lag on the device and also that you have as many applications as you wish to have in the background without having to worry about the phone slowing down. A Quad Core processor has produced some remarkable benchmarks and it would make a lot of sense that a quad core chip is at the core of our perfect device. A 2800mAH+ Battery: We more often than not sit and crib about the poor battery life of devices today. Apart from maybe Motorola Razr Maxx, none of the devices have a battery to drive home. A perfect device could at the very least last on a single charge cycle throughout the day with a moderate to heavy usage without having to dim down the backlight and various other well known battery conserving tricks. A 720P HD Display: I honestly do not care if the display is called Retina or super duper AMOLED, what does matter is that the display must be HD. The Retina display is wonderful and so is The Super Amoled HD, but if the resolution is going to be low, there is not much point esp on such a large display. The true HD display on the likes of Galaxy Nexus is beautiful to look at and it would form the display of my perfect device. A Poly-Carbonate Unibody Hardware: It is very rightly said that any amount of plastic flushed or not cannot match for the feel of pure metal chassis and a neat unibody design. I have been really impressed with Nokia seeing the design of the Lumia 900, and would love it if more companies would try and emulate such designs instead of cheap plastic bodies or an expensive yet very break-able glass exteriors. A Notification Light: A notification light may seem like a small thing, but it is quite an essential thing as far as i am concerned. I love it on my Blackberry when a new notification comes and the red light goes off. This way i do not have to unnecessarily keep checking the device for a notification i may be expecting eating away battery life. It is a nice little feature to keep us going. A Dedicated Notification Center: Notifications are a big part of a smartphone. The iPhone despite its improvements does not quite handle the notifications well, Android is slightly better but not quite there, it seems too cluttery when you see the notifications bar on an Android device. I would certainly have a revamped notification center on my perfect device with subtle features such as marking messages read or delete them directly or having things like quick reply. Wireless Charging: I have totally no clue how someone can incorporate wireless charging, maybe by using one of the magic stones that Palm devices came out for a while or even a touch slab kind of feature, but wireless charging would definitely be a way forward. The galaxy 3 is supposedly coming out with a wireless charging mechanism so that would certainly be interesting. We spend a lot of time with our devices in one corner of the room cause its been flushed into a power socket trying to gain its juice back, it would be quite a relief if we could have wireless charging. An effectively loud speaker phone: I use my smartphone for a lot of business related conference calls but sadly most of the smartphones today have a really low speaker output system. The perfect smartphone would definitely up the audio quality from the speakers. 12 Megapixel Camera With Xenon Flash: I still admire the Nokia manufacture N8 for its camera qualities, similarly the Cybershot series were a favorite of mine too. A good 12 megapixel sensor with a Xenon flash that can easily take pictures in low light conditions is an absolute must for a perfect phone. Needless to say the phone must have video recording in 1280p. An HDMI Port: HDMI is still the most popular way of connecting your device to a larger screen and definitely an essential when it comes to the needs of a perfect smartphone. A 5GB cloud space out of the box: Cloud is definitely the future and there is only a limited amount of space we could have on our smart phones, so having some cloud space right out of the box would be a wonderful way to go. So these for me were the features that my perfect device would have, I have not mentioned anything much software related because this is not essentially discussing the needs of a perfect mobile OS. Do you agree with my choices? Or would your perfect smartphone have a few more features? Do let us know.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Is Finally Here

Samsung has just finished announcing its new flagship device the Galaxy S3 in London. The Galaxy S3 a worthy successor to its Galaxy S2 range of device. A lot of leaks and speculations were floating around before the device was launched and we must say fair few of them were definitely on the spot. Our first impressions of the device while looking at it from a monitor on an internet stream are good, and definitely feel the wait was worth it.
The device is inspired by the nature and is the only smartphone that can read, understand and answer you. To expand this, the device has an inbuilt technology that uses the front camera to see if you are reading something which would prevent the phone from switching the screen off. The phone also has inbuilt voice commands that would let you on the device without any physical contact. The screen on the SGS3 is a gorgeous 4.8 inches, SuperAmoled HD display. The device has curves and feels to emulate the feel of nature, making the phone first of its kinds. It would be available in both white and blue colour. The launch date of the device is expected to be May 29th in Europe. LTE would be on board for the American and Japanese customers, but the LTE version would be available only at a later date. To talk about the specs of the device, the device is powered by a 2100 mAH battery. The processor on board is the Exynos 4, 1.4GHz Quad-Core processor. The phone would ship with an 8 megapixel camera that has zero shutter lag and capable of choosing the best picture of a burst shot of 8. The shutter speed, is approximated at about 3.3 pictures per second, which is indeed impressive. The screen resolution is a mighty impressive 1280×720 which gives us a true HD experience. The device would be available with 16, 32 and 64 GB internal storage with extended support for Micro SD. The sensors on board are Accelerometer, RGB light, Digital compass, Proximity, Gyro, Barometer and the device is also capable of playing just about all the famous video file formats. The device obviously is running Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich OS So all in all it seems like we have a brilliant phone on the hands, and Samsung has definitely come up with a unique design. For continued coverage on Samsung Galaxy S3 and more tech news, stay tuned. And do let us know how did you find the new Galaxy S3 in the comments section below.

How to Run Android Froyo on Windows 7 Computer

If you want to run latest version of Android OS on your computer then you can do this with the help of Android SDK. All you need to do is install a SDK on your computer and try the latest version of the OS right inside your Windows computer. SDK is also available for Mac OS X and Linux OS. This guide will show you how to install Android SDK on your computer and run the Froyo without any hassle. Note: Download and install Java on your computer before downloading Android SDK. First of all, go to this website and download the Windows version of the package. Click on android-sdk_r07-windows.zip to download the file.
After the file got downloaded. Extract the zip file. Open the folder and you’ll find SDK Manager.exe inside it. Double click on it to run it.
A black screen will appear followed by packages to choose. You need to choose those versions of Android which you want to test on your computer. For example,, I rejected oldest version of Android (Android 1.1). If you choose more than one version then it will take too much time to complete the installation process because all the files get downloaded one by one (for each version) from the internet. It is better to select only few versions. After selecting the versions, click “Install” button.
It will start installing all the selected versions of Android one by one, starting from the latest one. You can see the progress in the opened window.
After all the versions got installed, it’s time to create a virtual device. On left pane, click on the “Virtual Devices” and then click on “New” button given at the right.
Give the name to the virtual device. In the dropdown next to Target, select the Android platform (I selected Android 2.2). Choose the size of SD card (virtual card, no SD card required to run the virtual device). After selecting the proper options click on the “Create AVD button”.
After successfully creating the AVD, it will notify you.
To start the AVD (Android virtual device) just select the AVD and then click the highlighted “Start” button.
Keep the “Launch Options” as it is. Click on the “Launch” button to start the device.
Device will launch. You can see ANDROID written on the left side and mobile like buttons on the right. A bar next to ANDROID is blinking which means the device is booting.
After some times, a clear shining Android icon will appear on the left. Wait for some time for the final screen to appear.
After sometime a final screen will appear displaying colorful android homepage. The instruction is written on the page which tells you to click on the launcher icon to see all your pre installed apps.
You can get many apps such as Alarm clock , calculator, browser, email, music, gallery etc. on the application page.
AVD automatically detects wireless networks and connects you to the internet via device. It means if you launch the browser and type the website URL, it actually opens inside the screen. Pretty nice way to test websites on Android.
Click on the Menu button given on the right to set the wallpaper and browse other options. Click “Add” button to go to other options such as add Shortcuts, Widgets, Wallpaper to the home screen.
That is how you can use Android on your computer. The SDK provides you many other facilities to experience Android platform. By using some tricks you can also download apps inside the virtual device. We’ll discuss it in later article.

NASA seeks wisdom of crowd for Mars robot missions

NASA is trying to shed any "not invented here" attitude for its next missions to Mars. The space agency announced Friday it is enlisting the help of scientists and engineers worldwide to lay plans for sending a robot to Mars. The planning group's ultimate mission is to send humans to Mars by the 2030s. NASA is organizing a meeting, called Concepts and Approaches for Mars Exploration, at the Lunar and Planetary Institute in Houston, Texas, in June. Scientists and technologists can submit ideas for papers online, some of which will be presented at the conference. The robotic mission ideas should be geared toward near-term missions, which could start as early as 2018, as well as longer-term goals. NASA hopes the new approach of seeking input from outsiders will generate good ideas and help maintain technical skills in the U.S., the agency said. This August, the Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity is scheduled to land on Mars and help determine whether the environment is able to sustain life. Next year, NASA will launch the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution orbiter, a probe to understand the Red Planet's atmosphere. The rover Opportunity, which landed on Mars in 2004, is still operating and there are two NASA-launched satellites now orbiting Mars.

PlayStation Network going down this morning -- for maintenance

Sony says its PlayStation Network will be down today, but those who suffered through last year's security breach should know it's only maintenance this time around. Sony senior manager for the PlayStation Digital Platforms, Matthew Harper, announced on his company's blog yesterday that the gaming and digital media network will be taken down at 6 a.m. PT today and will stay offline for about 13 hours, or until 7 p.m. PT. During that period, the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, and online gaming will not be available.
Sony's timing on the outage is somewhat curious. Almost exactly one year ago, the company was forced to take its PlayStation Network offline after it was breached by hackers. During the weeks-long downtime, the company revealed that user data was stolen, including credit card numbers. When the PlayStation Network was restored, Sony made it clear that the service was far more secure.

Man uses Google Earth to find long-lost mother

Sometimes Google Earth can help you find your way home after decades of not knowing where home is. That is what apparently happened for an Indian man who was separated from his family as a 5-year-old. Saroo Brierley tells BBC magazine that he was accompanying his older brother on a train trip in 1986 when he fell asleep and awoke 14 hours later in the notorious slum of Calcutta. Without his brother. At first, he lived on the streets, joining legions of children begging for their livelihood. Brierley would eventually be taken in by an orphanage and adopted by a couple in Australia. "I accepted that I was lost and that I could not find my way back home, so I thought it was great that I was going to Australia," he told the magazine. But as he grew older, the desire to know where he came from also grew. With vivid memories of -- but not the name -- of the town he was born, he started searching the Internet for clues. Brierley multiplied the 14 hours he knew he had been on the train by the average speed of trains in India to determine how far he traveled that night. He then drew a circle around Calcutta based on that radius and eventually determined that Khandwa was the town he was looking for. "When I found it, I zoomed down and bang, it just came up," he said. "I navigated it all the way from the waterfall where I used to play." He would eventually make his way to Khandwa and locate a familiar house. His family had moved but he remembered their names. With the help of passers-by, Brierley was taken to the house where is mother lived. At first he did not recognize his mother, who was stunned into silence by his reappearance. She took him by the hand into her house. "She had a bit of trouble grasping that her son, after 25 years, had just reappeared like a ghost." His older brother was not as fortunate; his body was found on the railroad tracks a few months after Brierley disappeared.

How to bring the Start menu back to Windows 8

Still yearning for the good, old-fashioned Start menu in Windows 8? StartMenu7 is one utility that can bring it back for you. Initially designed to replace and enhance the Start menu in Windows 7 and prior versions, StartMenu7 (aka StartMenuX) can pull a similar trick in Windows 8. Designed for a PC or touch-screen device, this utility is available as both a free version and a paid $19.99 pro version, so you can try out the freebie first. After installation, the software displays an icon in the lower left corner of the desktop. Click on the icon, and a traditional Start menu pops up with access to your various programs, documents, folders, and other content. You can navigate through the various folders and subfolders to launch your full array of installed programs. You'll find the familiar Run command, which is always handy. And a Search link brings you to the Metro screen's Search feature. A power control panel gives you access to a helpful collection of options, including Shut Down, Restart, Sleep, Hibernate, Log off, and even Undock if your laptop is connected to a docking station. You can easily resize the menu to make it shorter or narrower and even position it anywhere on the screen so it's closer to or further away from the Taskbar. By default, the utility uses the new Windows 8 logo for its button, but you can change that to the familiar Windows 7 orb, an Apple logo, or even an Angry Birds image. You can also change the skin and color of the menu itself. The free version provides some options to edit the menu by letting you add and remove items. But you'll need the pro version to completely customize the menu. A separate Group Manager tool allows you to add, edit, and remove virtual groups for your different applications. Since the tool's Start menu icon appears in the usual lower left, you may have some trouble accessing the Metro screen thumbnail that appears when you hover in the hot corner. The trick is to move your mouse all the way to the hot corner until the thumbnail appears, then move your mouse up, and then click on the thumbnail to bring you to the Metro screen. So with a little finesse, StartMenu7 can co-exist peacefully with access to the Metro Start screen. I did bump into one glitch where the utility's icon overlapped the Taskbar icon next to it, in this case the shortcut for Internet Explorer. Exiting the icon removed it from the screen, but then I couldn't get it back until I rebooted Windows 8. If you have trouble launching the program from its Start menu icon, you can run it from the Windows System Tray instead. Click on the arrow for Show Hidden Icons in the System Tray and select Customize. Set StartMenuX to "show icon and notifications," and it will always appear to let you trigger the menu.

Microsoft playing active role in ultrabook development?

t's a software maker first and foremost, but Microsoft certainly has a vested interest in hardware. Case in point: Digitimes is reporting today, citing sources, that Microsoft is "actively involved" in ultrabook product designs. The reason the company is taking such an active role centers on Windows 8's touch-enabled features. When displays are touched in traditional clamshell notebooks, the screens will shake and move a bit, making it difficult to handle tasks. Microsoft has now placed more stringent specifications on vendors, according to Digitimes' sources, to ensure that the touch screens will deliver a more reliable experience. The combination of ultrabooks and touch screens is something many vendors believe could be a key ingredient in the form factor's success. Last November, Intel CEO Paul Otellini, whose company developed the ultrabook specification, said that touch-based options will become increasingly important as the devices try to compete against traditional notebooks and Apple's own iPad. "To do that, we have to get touch to a lower cost," Otellini said last year. "This is particularly important, as we move to the launch of Windows 8. The iPad and the iPhone have made touch a paradigm." Although ultrabooks might not be direct competitors to Apple's iPad, they are trying to take on the MacBook Air. And although Apple has popularized touch-based functionality, the company has yet to deliver what Microsoft reportedly desires by bringing touch-enabled displays to its line of MacBooks. While it's possible that might happen eventually, implementing touch functionality in an upright display is something Apple doesn't seem all that keen to follow through on. If Microsoft has its way, however, ultrabooks with touch displays might become far more prevalent in the coming quarters. According to Digitimes' sources, touch-enabled ultrabooks featuring displays of 13 inches or above could account for 30 percent of all shipped models this year.

Nokia Lumia 900 ad mocks other smartphones for looking alike

Do you feel you're expressing yourself as an individual because you have the same smartphone as everyone else? That's the message being promoted in the latest not-so tongue-in-cheek ad created by Nokia and AT&T. Trying to drum up interest in the new Lumia 900 Windows Phone, the two companies are hard at work unleashing a series of ads aimed at deriding the competition. The latest ad (also seen below) starts off by calling other smartphone users beta testers and proclaiming that all other smartphones look alike. To prove the point, the gentleman portrayed in the ad seems content that his smartphone is the same as everyone else's. But he becomes a bit less content when a nerdy-looking girl runs up to him with the same smartphone in tow, sqwaking as she compares hers with his. And of course, the usual well-dressed spokesman ends the ad by touting that Nokia designed the 900 because all smartphones don't need to look alike. The ad is clever. But will it sell the phone? Mocking other smartphones and by extension other smartphones users is a risky approach. But when battling for share in a market dominated by Apple and Android, Nokia and AT&T do need the big guns, which includes an aggressive and even risky marketing campaign. The two players have already lampooned the iPhone over last year's antennagate issue. So now they're just expanding their horizons to cover the rest of the industry. And how has the Lumia 900 been selling so far? Paul Roth, AT&T's president of retail sales and service, annnounced last week that sales of the phone had "exceeded expectations," according to AllThingsD. The Lumia 900 topped Amazon's mobile phone bestsellers list last week. And a scan of AT&T's online store shows the phone out of stock. But we don't know if the phone is out of stock due to hot sales or other reasons. The 900 faced an early challenge as many users ran into data connection problems, prompting Nokia to offer to replace the defective phones with new ones. As AllThingsD points out, the rush to get replacement phones could have impacted existing stock, causing AT&T to run out of supply Most likely, that factor combined with robust initial sales may have emptied AT&T's supply quicker than expected.

Google's Sergey Brin: Facebook and Apple a threat to Internet freedom

In an interview with the Guardian, Google co-founder Sergey Brin warned that the "open" Internet is in danger from very powerful forces, including Facebook and Apple. "I am more worried than I have been in the past ... it's scary," he said Brin identified the serious threats to the open Internet as repressive governments trying to control access to the Internet, entertainment industry crackdowns on piracy and so-called "wall gardens" that maintain more strict control over what can be done on their technology platforms, citing Facebook and Apple. He said that Facebook and Apple are stifling innovation and risk Balkanizing the Web, and went as far as to say that Google would never have come into existence if Facebook were dominant. "You have to play by their rules, which are really restrictive. The kind of environment that we developed Google in, the reason that we were able to develop a search engine, is the web was so open. Once you get too many rules that will stifle innovation." Of course, there is some self-interest and sour grapes in Brin's assessment. He would like to make all the information inside Facebook and Apple apps accessible to Google's search engine. A more open Web is certainly very good for the world but it's also very good for Google's bottom line. And, Google's main effort at social networking, Google+, has a long way to go to catch Facebook, which has more that four times the number of users and continues to gain momentum, including its recent purchase of the mobile photo-sharing app, Instagram. In addition, Apple, which has ridden it's proprietary approach to become the most valued company in the world, is Google's main competitor in the smartphone and tablet arena, another area critical to Google's business success. Brin also complained about Facebook making it difficult for users to move their data to other services, presumably Google+. "Facebook has been sucking down Gmail contacts for many years," he said. Brin's comments on his chief competitors may be the start of an escalating war of words and technology as the giant colonizers of the Web continue their competitive quests for dominance. Keep in mind what the Web's inventor Tim Berners-Lee has said: A related danger is that one social-networking site--or one search engine or one browser--gets so big that it becomes a monopoly, which tends to limit innovation. As has been the case since the Web began, continued grassroots innovation may be the best check and balance against any one company or government that tries to undermine universality.

New iPad Mini rumor: 6M coming in third quarter

The latest comes by way of a translated report from Chinese online portal Netease, which states the device will compete against Windows 8 tablets.
Another day, another iPad Mini rumor. The latest comes by way of a report from Chinese portal Netease, translated by Kotaku, which states that a smaller version of Apple's hit tablet will come to market in the third quarter. The report says that 6 million units will be ready for launch, and the smaller tablet could sell for $249 to $299. While Steve Jobs himself has dismissed the notion of a smaller iPad, rumors have continued to pop up that Apple is readying a smaller version of its iPad. The success of Amazon's Kindle Fire, which has sold well largely thanks to its lower price tag, may have convinced Apple that there is an opportunity for a smaller, more affordable tablet. Analysts have said such a device would help it maintain its lead over competitors. Apple may be preparing the smaller iPad as a response to the expected launch of competitive devices running on Windows 8, according to the report. While Android tablets haven't sold as well, Microsoft could have more luck given the potential to integrate desktop, laptop, and tablet operating systems. For now, the iPad continues to dominate the market.

new opretunity in indian railway with best saleries..:)

Under Graduate Course Special Class Railway Apprentice(SCRA) The SCRA scheme was started in 1927 by the British, to select a handful of most intelligent Indians to assist them in their Railway Operations, after training at their Railway's largest workshop, i.e. Jamalpur Workshop, and for one year in United Kingdom. The selected candidates were required to appear in the Mechanical Engineering Degree Exmination held by Engineering Council (London). Since then, the few admission seats for one of the country's first engineering college have always been hotly contested, with as many as 1 to 1.5 lakh candidates taking the entrance examination, now conducted by UPSC, for about 10 seats. That translates into an astonishing ratio of 1 selection per 10,000 applicants The scheme has continued to draw the country's best talent after independence and has provided Indian Railways with its top-ranking officers in all walks. Many of the Institute's alumni have won international accolade for having acheived excellence in their chosen careers, which include inventors, academicians, entrepreneurs, and high-ranking officers in other nations. The examination comprises written test in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language, General Knowledge, and Psychological Test (Mental Ability). The selected candidates are called for an interview, which is followed by a medical examination. The standard of syllabus is that of Class XII (CBSE equivalent). The notice for the SCRA entrance examination, along with form and syllabus, is brought out by the UPSC around the months of June-July. According to the new rules issued by the Ministry of Railways, the exam is now conducted once in every two years. The selected candidates undergo a four-year rigorous training programme in Mechanical Engineering, for which the Institute has a Memorandum of Understanding with BIT, Mesra, Ranchi. The semester system of BIT, Mesra is followed, with workshop training sessions during the holidays at BIT, Mesra. The apprentices get a stipend of Rs. 9100 with Dearness Allowance, apart from medical benefits, privelege passes and PTOs. After successful completion of four years of training, the candidates join as Indian Railway Services of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) Officers in Indian Railways to face a challanging and satisfying career.
