Mac|Life -It's iPhone rumor season and the little beasts are running rampant.

It's iPhone rumor season and the little beasts are running rampant. If you've haven't seen at least six iPhone 5 rumors, there's a good chance you haven't been on the Internet lately. Throw in Apple's developer beta of iCloud for users of iOS 5 and Lion for good measure and people are already forgetting about that whole "natural scrolling" issue with Lion.
App Store Showdown: Apple vs. Amazon Mac veterans remember well the dark days before Apple's own software storefront -- a time when locating and buying software for their computer was akin to a nightmarish Easter egg hunt. Thankfully, Apple's Mac App Store has made those memories a thing of the past, and even Amazon has jumped into the fray with its own Mac-friendly download store. But which should you use? Rumor: Manufacturer Gets The Order, iPhone 5 Will Ship in September In the emerging battle of Camp September Release vs. Camp October Release, rumors are continuing to trickle in, adding fuel to the debate and hope to the masses waiting for the next iPhone. Google+ May Be Growing Fast, But Is Anyone Actually Using It? It was reported that Google+'s popularity has soared into the millions -- 25 million to be exact. A new report from AFP (ironically, via Google News) claims that the social networking service from the world's largest search giant has grown faster than Twitter, MySpace, and even Facebook when it first launched. According to Mashable, it took Facebook and Twitter around 36 months to achieve those numbers. These are amazing statistics for Google, considering the service is actually so niche and invitation-only. Staying Put: The Case For Sticking With Mac OS X Snow Leopard Now that OS X Lion has been installed on more than a million Macs worldwide (and counting!), Apple would prefer that users forget all about the now-orphaned Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. There are many reasons why users might want to stick with the tried and true snow cat. Spy Shot! Is This The iPhone 5? A newbie on the MacRumors Forum posted an alleged shot of the yet to be seen iPhone 5. The user, named guigsh, just joined the forum this month. He wrote "Picture taken yesterday in the office of a French operator." How To Reset Your Apple ID In the early days of the iTunes Store, Apple was fairly lenient about your account name and password for the service. With the advent of the Apple ID and all of the moving parts it taps into, that's all changed, with Cupertino requiring new users to create Apple IDs from their email addresses. If you're looking for a new identity or just want to join the cool kids by using your email address too, read on. Apple Could Be Launching iTunes Streaming Service Very Soon Since users already have the ability to re-download past music and video purchases, this seems like an inevitable next step for Apple. The feature would give all users access to movies, music and television shows they purchased as far back as January 1, 2009, as well as streaming abilities for the Apple TV and any iOS devices. anything on Craigslist. That last one's really just an urban legend, but Craigslist has made our garage sale shopping and selling less dependent on calendars, except there's no mobile version of their site and we find the design makes our head hurt. If only there were an app that could make Craigslist a joy, we'd buy that for a dollar. How To Use Your Apple ID in OS X Lion Before Lion, your Apple ID could only be used online, in the Mac App Store, or iTunes Store. But now, Apple allows you to link your Apple ID with your user account in OS X Lion. This enables you to do things like sign into screen sharing with your Apple ID and use your account with Air Drop and as authentication for File Sharing. Rumor: iPhone 5 Already At Carriers, See You In September New reports are out that, according to "carrier sources", the special security boxes that contain the iPhone 5 have arrived at carriers for testing, and this supports a September release for the much-rumored device. Everything You Need to Know About Versions Versions is a new feature Apple placed in Lion to allow almost any application the ability to version documents that users are working on. This means that when you save a document as you're writing, you will not only have access to the current version, but you will also have access to the previous saved versions of the same document. iCloud Beta is Up For Developers Sorry, did I get you all excited there for a second? Look, forgive me. I just got so excited! iCloud beta and iCloud Storage APIs are up for developers who are ready to start, um, developing! Guys and gals who code, start making those apps to push documents up to the cloud, and to infinity and beyond! Rumor Round Up: The Latest iPhone 5 Rumors (Updated) As iCal turns to the last full month of summer, we begin to turn our sun drenched thoughts to the hopes and promises of fall -- back to school, the start of football, baseball playoffs, and new stuff from Apple. We know iCloud is coming, and iOS 5 is certainly calling, but there is one growing sand worm of a rumor that keeps pulling us back into the land of unsubstantiated guesses: iPhone 5. So, what is the deal with the next iPhone?
